Embrace nostalgia this Easter with heritage toy manufacturer Steiff’s Rabbit pin cushion set and Lia lamb. Paying homage to the past, the Rabbit pin cushion set is evocative of Steiff’s beginnings in 1880 when Margarete Steiff fashioned an Elephant pin cushion which would become the world’s first ever soft toy.
The story of children’s dreams come true: as an energetic young girl, Margarete Steiff fought for her place in life, against much resistance. With a pin cushion in the shape of a small stuffed elephant, she wrote the first chapter of the unprecedented success story, which is still being continued today, over 135 years later. Thanks to the loving dedication and quality consciousness of all teh employees, the story of Margarete Steiff and Margarete Steiff GmbH remain inseparable from each other.
Crafted at Steiff’s original turn-of-the-century factory, the Rabbit pin cushion set is made of the finest cotton velvet, modelled after the distinctive velvet rabbits produced by Steiff in the late 1800s.
Alongside rabbits, Steiff lambs announce the arrival of Spring, with an Easter lamb appearing in Steiff’s first ever catalogue in 1892. This year, Steiff introduces Lia lamb, hand-crafted from high-quality wool plush. Perfect for a vintage Easter, she stands 15cm tall and wears a handmade felt garland headband adorned with blue daisies.
All Steiff collector’s pieces are handmade in Germany and are instantly recognised by the ‘Knopf im Ohr’ or ‘Button in Ear’. Created in 1904, the button was one of the world’s first trademarks and remains a symbol of Steiff’s history and expertise.
